As of July 2016, what was Uber’s #1 city in the world by average daily rides? The answer is Chengdu – due to the “tremendous appetite amongst Chinese drivers and riders for creative new ways to get from A to B, affordably and reliably.” Local competitor Didi has since bought out Uber’s operations in China, but the lesson remains: digital innovation in China is highly advanced, more accessible, and more prominent than in places like Silicon Valley.
