The Feiyue the Warrior sneaker brand is back. During the 1970s, Warrior brand sneakers were the hottest shoes in China. Continuing into the 1980s, the shoe remained a status symbol for Chinese teenagers who were well-off enough to don a pair of famous Warriors.
However, after the Chinese economy opened its market large sneaker brands such as Nike and Converse began to take center stage leaving Warrior behind the curtain.
As more and more consumer are seeking to differentiate themselves through their style Warrior has become successful again. The brand is following its similar appeal in the 1970s as a form of rebellious expression. The sneaker is becoming extremely popular with trend spotters, artists, designers, and retro fans around the world.
Hush Puppies shoes had a similar return in the United States during the mid 1990s. The once extremely popular shoes died out but made a major comeback with trend setters in New York City that caused the tipping point bringing the shoes into all of the major malls. There seems to be a trend of resurgence of sneakers that comes about by trendsetters.
Warrior plans to introduce its brand in cities like Berlin, Paris and over in Scandinavia. More and more Chinese brands are finding their niche market overseas and Warrior seems to be following their lead. Only time will tell if this is just a trend or a Chinese brand made to stay.
