Sharon Stone’s provoking words put Dior’s image at risk in China

Brands must think twice before choosing spokesperson…this is what DIOR PR department must be thinking at the moment!

During the Cannes Film Festival Sharon Stone, spokesperson for Dior’s global campaign since 2006, has made some unfortunate comments on China’s tragic earthquake in Sichuan.

The celebrity claimed that the tragedy was probably consequence of bad karma, comment that quite obviously unleashed harsh criticism among the general public. Even worse, following her declaration, many Chinese consumers stated that they would boycott Dior unless the French brand terminated the contract with the famous movie celebrity.

Dior’s French headquarter has immediately dissented Stone’s opinion. However, whether the famous brand would drop its spokesperson remains to be seen.
