Yes, you heard us right, we are not making some space-age joke. Eco-bags have actually been around for a while, all eco-featured for conscious buyers to pick up and save on electricity consumption. Thing is, every one of these green bags was very expensive and fairly ugly.
Things will be different by the end of 2008 when the Solarjo Power Purse will be released. Selling at $285, it will feature nice stylish design and loads of useful features.
The power purse is, in fact, covered in laminated (to avoid scratches and give it that nice shiny look) solar cells able to absorb enough solar power in two hours to charge a cell phone battery. Disguised in the lining, a couple of batteries hold a full charge that can last for up to a month. Moreover, a USB port inside the purse can be used for charging basically any small device, from phones to cameras, palm pilots to iPods.
The purse has been designed by Joe Hynek, the founder of Solarjo. Were you wondering how to make a happy marriage of fashion and eco-friendliness in cool product design? Solarjo is building a brand just on that!
