Alibaba, the famous online business-to-business commerce service group, has merged its sub-companies China Yahoo and Koubei.com under one brand name—Yahoo Koubei.

“Koubei” is a Chinese word which literally means “word of mouth”. The namesake website provides classified listing and community service to help China Yahoo extend services to e-commerce, the parent company’s major business. The new search platform will assists small businesses and customers to better reach each other.

Yahoo China changed its name last year to China Yahoo but is still adapting locally. Furthermore, insiders considered the merger as compromising Yahoo’s brand value to save Koubei.com. Since the integration is just in the bud, let’s wait and see where the legendary brand will go in China
